Living The Beatitudes

Rediscover the beauty of the Beatitudes and encounter Christ in a new way. In the Beatitudes, Jesus describes how we can live as his followers and enjoy God’s blessings in this life and in the next. In Living the Beatitudes, Fr. Bransfield breaks open the richness of the Beatitudes and gently guides us into the journey of growing into the person God called us to be. He explains the admirable qualities that we see in Jesus and desire for ourselves: gentleness, fidelity, purity of heart, mercy, poverty of spirit, justice, peace, and perseverance in time of persecution.

Living the Beatitudes is divided into two parts.

Part one:
Reflects on the story of the Samaritan woman at the well found in the Gospel of John.
Explores our identity and fears and how we can grow from these.
Invites us to a deeper acknowledgement and appreciation of God’s grace that is available to and at work in us.
Reviews the mysteries of the Trinity, sin, the cross, and the call to holiness.

Part two:
Considers each of the Beatitudes in depth.
Explains how each Beatitude is opposed by a particular sin.
Describes the virtue that is practiced in each Beatitude.
Identifies the gift of the Holy Spirit that enables the living of each Beatitude.

In Living the Beatitudes, we experience Jesus’ loving gaze upon us and his invitation to enter into a deeper, loving relationship with him. Once we begin to live more closely with the Lord through the Beatitudes, we will experience a renewal of his life within us and gain courage to be his faithful followers.
